connect

connect is a sol community based around a group of people using the same social media app. they all have a 0-2 degree of separation, their connections varying from family, to friends, exes, and enemies. for more information please navigate through the links below. our community is closed to the public, please submit any questions here.

premise

connect a sol community based around a fictional app similar to be real called "connect". the community location is set in boston, which is where the majority of characters live, but your character is welcome to reside anywhere in the world so long as they have a tie back and use the connect app. while the majority of ic events will happen in boston, pop-up events will happen in other places and members are always welcome to host their own events. while all members use the connect app and have each other friended, how they know each other is entirely up to you. it could be something as simple as meeting at a friend's party, working in the same building, they've been playing online games together for years and have never met, or being best friends since they were children.

types of characters

we accept all different kinds of characters, including faux. if you are creating a faux character based on a celebrities career, they are allowed to have a singular set of credits (aka ryan gosling credits did all of his movies in the years they were produced/released). if you're bringing a character with faux atheltic credits, we ask that you keep them on the same team they play for in real life. if you're bringing in a character based on a famous couple's child we ask that you keep what made them famous and their catalog of work, but feel free to change anything else (their names, pbs). when using a be sure when making your choice that you are not choosing credits that are problematic. if you do, we might ask that you change the credits. as the community grows, so will the unique places created by our members. you are welcome to have your character work/own at an existing, real life business or create something fictional. you might also take something from real life as your premise, but reimage it to suit your character and creativity.

the app

connect was started by a college kid who wanted to make social media feel more "real". rather than well-crafted glimpses of someone's life to spin a narrative, connect is a photo taken within ten seconds of recieving a notification and shows the realest slices of life. once taken, the user can choose whether or not to post the image for their friends to see and comment on or delete it. users cannot pick the opportunity they get to take the photo - it is completely at random throughout the day. we have a html code here that you can use to post from your character in our social media comm. other members in the community can then post comments as if they are interacting through the app.
